Unily delivered 385% ROI in TEI study, payback in <6 months
When enterprises invest in Unily they do it because they believe that empowering employees with the best technology creates a more engaged, productive, and collaborative workforce. But exactly how much ROI does Unily deliver for enterprises?
A new study conducted by Forrester Consulting found that a composite organization using Unily achieved a 385% return on investment, with a payback period of less than six months.
"Unily delivers a cohesive modern software-as-a-service (SaaS) EX platform with tools that increase productivity and collaboration, improve access for content creators, and enable adaptation to today’s fluid business requirements."
Using Forrester's Total Economic Impact™ methodology, the study revealed that a composite enterprise of 25k employees achieved cost savings of $9m over a 3 year period as a result of increased productivity, improved internal communications efficiency and technology consolidation. Tangible benefits of the platform identified by Forrester included:
- Improved efficiency for content production, which saved more than 300 hours and $4.8m
- Improved productivity for knowledge workers, which provided 50% efficiency gains equal to $2.6m
- Increased efficiency for IT teams managing the intranet, which recouped more than $500k
- Accelerated portal development equating to $600k+
- Technology consolidation savings totalling more than $400k
Alongside tangible benefits, further qualitative benefits were revealed including improved Net Promoter Score℠ (NPS) ratings and employee engagement with company communications, improved collaboration among employees across departments, improved governance of the intranet, improved EX with employee-onboarding experiences, and mobile app usage to improve engagement of frontline workers.
According to the study, "Companies need a cohesive employee experience (EX) platform that delivers trusted and timely content, engages employees, and enhances the digital workplace." Those with outdated legacy platforms risk eroding employee trust and failing to keep pace with today's fast-moving business environment.
Why we commissioned the study
Enterprises often find it difficult to calculate the potential ROI of rolling out a new employee experience platform. That's why Unily commissioned Forrester Consulting to conduct an independent study based on real customer interviews and financial modelling to unpack the true ROI of Unily.
The purpose of the study is to help companies demonstrate, justify, and realize the tangible value of IT initiatives to both senior management and other key business stakeholders.
How the ROI is calculated
The study uses interviews with real Unily customers to identify the benefits, costs, flexibility, and risks of investing in Unily. A financial model is created based on a composite organization of 25k employees, and the ROI figures are calculated based on this example organization. The final output of the study is a case study that models the impact of investing in Unily to provide a complete picture of the total economic impact of purchase decisions.
Customers using Unily report increased collaboration, engagement, and productivity
Enterprises interviewed as part of the study reported a range of benefits realized as a result of investment in Unily, including:
"Unily is helping us do more work. For example, if it used to take 30 minutes searching for something, it now only takes 10 minutes, which means there are now 20 minutes that can be used to go back to work."
"Prior to Unily, we had an NPS of -45. Two months after that, the survey results showed that the NPS jumped to +15. Favorability went from 25% to 78%."
"One of the biggest things that we tried to do [with our employees] is to bring all of them together into one place so they could see beyond their sphere of work, and change that to get them thinking about the bigger picture, to work together, to create solutions across businesses and brands and ultimately serve our customers better."
"We had 20 people [on the IT team] working 100% of the time, and now for the intranet, it’s down to two [employees] working 35% to 50% of the time."
"The biggest benefit was [having] that single source of truth, that place where you could find all the information that you needed. Unily is the place to find the information."
